Alexis Williams – positivity and resilience in the workplace
Alexis Williams is an inspirational and positive leader to her team. She’s someone who transitioned out of the classroom as a Primary School teacher seven years ago and is now the Customer Service Manager at Zipform Digital. We sat down with her to discover why positivity and resilience are key to building successful client relationships and strong teams.
A short seven years ago, Alexis Williams was working as a primary school teacher, guiding and shaping children’s young minds after completing her Bachelor of Education at Curtin University in WA.
These days you can find her at Zipform Digital juggling multiple things at once, ensuring her team of Account Coordinators create an efficient and positive experience for clients.
Alexis comments,
“Whilst my career path started as a teacher, the experience I gained allowed me to develop essential skills in communication and adaptability, in addition to being able to coach and educate others. I knew the skills I had were valuable and have led to my success in other fields.
Even though on the surface they seem vastly different industries, there are so many similarities that the transition felt incredibly smooth. With a typical day involving observing and supporting my team, it can also include analysing skills of the team, creating career development plans and of course, reporting.”
A resilient leader
Alexis continues to focus on bringing resilience and positivity into client account management every day at Zipform Digital whilst also creating a team culture which mirrors these core beliefs.
“I like to understand all aspects of a problem or challenge before making key decisions. I’ve been told that I have an inquisitive nature – I’ll put 100% of my focus on finding the right solution for the client, whether it’s a process improvement or new training for my team.
I’ve also found that honesty, respect and setting clear expectations are key to developing not only great client relationships, but a happy and positive team. They are values that not just my work experience has taught me, but my life experience.”
At the tender age of two, Alexis was diagnosed with cancer. Undergoing this experience and beating the odds at such a young age has also made her a lifelong supporter of Daffodil Day, Telethon and Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (which takes place in September each year).
Alexis sums up, “I never discount the impact of life experience in any of my interactions – everyone has a story to tell, and this was mine. It’s brought me to where I am today in my career, and I love my work with Zipform Digital and the people and clients there.”
Alexis Williams is an outcomes led leader looking to improve team culture through developing positivity and resiliency within her team, in addition to embracing change to improve the efficiency and productivity of a business.
