Reducing Zipform Digital’s Carbon Footprint

ISO 14001 is one of the world’s most respected environmental certifications. Zipform Digital CEO Richard Vaughan reflects on the work, commitment and leadership required to achieve this global accreditation.
ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems (EMS), and with just over 485,00 ISO 14001 certificates issued globally – it’s also one of the fastest growing areas of accreditation with a 21% increase in certifications issued year on year.*
To achieve ISO 14001 certification, businesses must maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) – identifying environmental risks, stay compliant with environmental regulations, plus reduce waste and energy consumption. With a culture of continuous improvement at Zipform Digital, achieving ISO 14001 certification means the implementation of the associated new processes and procedures will benefit both the business and its clients.
Richard Vaughan CEO Zipform Digital, explains further,
“There will be a new focus on minimising waste and conservation of resources, demonstrating our commitment to environmental responsibility. We are looking to receive accreditation in February next year, which is a huge step towards becoming carbon neutral.”
Business Impact
Zipform Digital say they are anticipating the need for new controls in place to manage environmental aspects and achieve our set objectives. Richard says this will take many forms,
“The controls will be in the form of waste disposal procedures, recycling programs, circular economy initiatives and potentially using different equipment than we have previously.”
Managing the carbon footprint of a business as large as Zipform Digital doesn’t just rest with attaining this certification; many initiatives are already in place with more planned.
“We have already made a significant investment in a large 110KW solar array system on the roof space of our West Australian production facility, switched to more efficient LED lighting and all paper waste is recycled by a third party. Paper used by Zipform Digital must meet a strict criteria which includes requirements for Anti-Logging , FSC and PEFC Certifications, ensuring responsible forestry practices. Whilst attaining ISO 14001 accreditation will be a huge step towards reducing our carbon footprint, we’ve clearly already made inroads through other initiatives.”
Richard also outlined the impact that Zipform Digital clients could expect to see,
“There will be a positive flow on impact for our clients as we look to drive more efficiencies and reduce costs. By reducing our carbon footprint, we will also be helping our clients adhere to their own supply chain audit requirements. It’s a win-win but most importantly, we want to ensure that we’re doing as much as possible to create a clean, green future for our children.”
ISO 14001 Environmental Management System is set to be awarded in February 2025.
